In business, it is normal for the firm or employees to encounter some issues. There are many types of issues but there are two main issues arise in business.
The ethics define as the principles, norms, and standards of conduct governing an individual or group (Trevino & Nelson, 2007). Other people defined ethics as a moral conduct because of the fact norms are for the moral of the people.
Moral issues focus more about issues of, pertaining to or concerned with the principles or rules of right conduct or the distinction between rights and wrong (Dictionary, 2012). Based on those two definition both ethical and moral issues are concern about principles of conduct.
The difference is deciding facts base on situation. Ethics governs and study more about morality while morality studies on what to decide on which decision are more humane. Ethics was form as a rule for all, like general principles. Moral issues engaged deeper in terms of knowing what is more right than the other. We all know that stealing and assault is unethical but through moral, we can determine which more humane act than the other can.
Furthermore, ethical and moral issues differs on pertaining an obligation. As a business firm, they practice business ethics but they have a moral obligation to people and to his employees. Moral is not just only principles but they are considered as rights. Moral rights are important, normative, and justifiable claims or entitlements (DeGeorge, 2010).
Ethics studies about morality. Morality is a term used to cover those practices and activities that are considered importantly right and wrong; the rules that govern those activities; and the values that are embedded, fostered, or pursued by those activities and practices (DeGeorge, 2010). The perception of morality differs from each individual or group. This is the reason why each person has different religion, cultures, and beliefs. Personal ethics based from each individual belief, principles, and norms. In its most general sense, ethics is a systematic attempt to make sense of our individual and social moral experience, in such a way as to determine the rules that ought to govern human conduct, the values worth pursuing, and the character traits deserving development in life (DeGeorge, 2010).
The issue between personal ethics and business ethics are the situation that they contradict each ethics. A good example of contradiction of ethics is the religious practice of an individual pertains to business hours. Some religious practices prohibit working on certain day or hours. It is an ethical for them to work on that day or hours but for business ethics, there is nothing wrong with it. Business ethics are the norms, principles, and standard of conducts of a firm. Business ethics a field defined as the interaction of ethics and business (DeGeorge, 2010). There is a possibility of business ethics of each firm are the same or different but the concept of ethics is similar.
